Learning Styles

Most of our students are high achievers and meet grade expectations. Some of them are tactile learners who enjoy hands-on activities, using manipulatives, and crafting. We incorporate hands-on activities and physical tasks into the lessons. The high achievers amongst them explore topics in depth and pursue interest. They love group activities and assisting their peers. Most of our students are kinesthetic and visual learners. They can easily complete a task just by viewing the instructions but a few of them need to be pulled out in a group to guide them on their learning goal.

Academic Level

Grade 3 students are currently reading between PM level 21-27. They enjoy reading to themselves or to their buddies. They enjoy illustrated books and like to discuss the events in the story. Some of them still struggle with answering inference questions and comprehension of text.

Majority of the class excel in math and can understand and apply concepts beyond basic arithmetic. They can work with larger numbers, grasp advanced topics like fractions and geometry, handle complex word problems, and demonstrate strong mathematical reasoning and problem-solving skills. However, some of them are below grade level expectation in Math and yet to demonstrate a good understanding of math concepts. They mix up numbers and write them in the opposite direction.

Behavioral Self-Regulation Abilities

Majority of the class can follow directions easily while some still fidgets in class. Those ones easily get distracted by environmental factors. Sometimes they're unaware of the environment and they exhibit behaviours that are disruptive in class like whistling while the majority of the class are conscious of their behaviour. Constant reminders to students help to keep the classroom under control. Most self regulate at grade level and can communicate with peers, friends and adults .

Significant Health Issues or Disabilities

We do not have health or identified disabilities currently. None of such has been recorded in my class.

Learning Engagement Preferences

Our grade 3 students prefer hands-on activities that allow them to explore and experiment. They love interactive math games. Complex tasks capture their interest and keep them motivated. They also love engaging in collaborative activities where they share ideas with their peers. They enjoy using tablets to explore educational apps. They use game elements or short physical activities for brain breaks in class.

Technology Preferences

The kids like using technology. They enjoy things on screens that are exciting, easy to use, and help them learn and have fun. They often pick technology that has pictures and things they can touch and play with. It's like they have a natural talent for using computers and gadgets. They want their tech to be both helpful for learning and enjoyable for playing around.

Parent/Guardian Engagement

Most of the students' parents are involved in their learning. They show interest and engages in commenting on matters that relate to their children. They often attend open house, parent meetings and other activities that involve parents. They have played a vital role in creating well-rounded students.

Learning Environment Preferences

They thrive in a comfortable and safe environment. Flexible movement in class is something they enjoy most during DEAR time. They have various learning centers in class that they love to explore. They usually pair up with a buddy and find their favourite spot in the room to complete tasks assigned to them.

Ability to Reflect, Use Feedback, and Academic Self-Awareness

They are all really concerned to know what the teachers think about their work and behaviour. Most of them constantly look out for feedback as this helps them to grow in their learning. They also like getting appraisal for the efforts made to complete their work or follow directions. Some of them tend to be nervous conferencing with the teacher for feedback.
